Neha is an LA-based actress, activist, writer and deviser. Born in Detroit, MI to Indian immigrant parents and raised in New Jersey, she worked to be a lawyer, receiving her BA in Cultural Diplomacy and Sociology from Georgetown University. It was during her final year when she realized that her passion for storytelling and performing intersected with her desire for social change. She decided that artists are the most dangerous people in the world because they hold the power of empathy. Forgoing the world of politics, Neha went on to pursue her MFA in Acting from the California Institute of the Arts (May 2017). Her poor Dad is still suffering from the stroke she gave him when she dismissed plans for law school.
Neha is currently working towards her aspirations for TV, Film, Voiceover and Theatre. Refinery29 followed her pursuits in a docu-series which you can find here. She is also an avid screenwriter and strives to create content for herself. She recently played “Mowgli” in a production of “The Jungle Book”.
Neha's love for performance started with dancing Bharatnatyam, a classical Indian dance form, for 12 years. She is currently working on a piece called Nagin which incorporates Bharatnatyam in celebration of female sensual power and aims to release the woman from the shame of Original Sin. As a performance artist/activist, Neha draws on traditional, non-western forms to explore artistic constructions of identity and place.
